Our hand-carved spoons and kitchenware are made from regional hardwoods, including cherry, maple, ash, black walnut, apple, and other woods as available. We consciously choose sustainable wood harvested from our own property or painstakingly chosen from regional purveyors. Many of our flat pieces are available as left or right handed. All of our pieces come with detailed instructions on care, our pledge of integrity, and sandpaper and beeswax for everyday care. Gift wrap/boxes and special delivery instructions are optional and available upon request. See our price list to select your items.
Type of Wood
Most of our items are available in cherry and maple. When available other wood choices are offered. If you are interested in a particular type of wood or have a cherished piece of wood you would like transformed into an heirloom spoon, feel free to contact us with your idea.
How to Care for Your Wooden Spoons
With proper care, wooden kitchenware is non-toxic, natural alternative to the over abundance of plastic in our lives. Each of our pieces go through an intense finishing process and then handed over to you the customer for life-long care. Initially, your new spoon is protected with a non-toxic beeswax finish. After use, wash gently with water and very little soap (do not put your spoon in the dishwasher). If you feel a slight roughness due to grain raising (a natural occurrence when wood comes into contact with water) sand briefly with the 400-600 grit sandpaper received with your spoon and lightly apply the beeswax. Over time, with proper care, the wood forms a natural patina not unlike driftwood and becomes impenetrable to water and other substances.
